Navy Veteran Michael Dowens has made it his mission to walk a whopping 200 miles from the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans memorial in his town all the way to the National Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. nonstop!
Dowens has adopted this staggering feat in order to raise funding and awareness for returning veterans that suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD.
Dowens has vowed only to stop to eat and will also be wearing over 70 pounds of body armor for the duration of his trek.
The money raised through a GoFundMe page will help sponsor a veteran to get proper treatment for PTSD at a treatment facility in Florida known as The Refuge.
At the moment, the GoFundMe page has raised around $11,000 which is enough funding to provide a veteran with one month of treatment.
Dowens is hoping to inspire an ongoing non-profit to help veterans get the treatment they need for PTSD, which claims 22 lives a day through suicide.
