Heroes in Action - Cockpit Videos, K9s and a Bronze Star Medal

Are you ready for more military cockpit videos? Want to watch an inspiring military video about the relationship between military working dog handlers and their K9s? How about watching the story of a Marine awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his actions in Afghanistan?

If you answered "Yes" to any of the above questions, then it looks like you are ready for this week's Heroes in Action military videos!

This week's videos of military heroes in action features some very cool videos putting you right in the cockpit of two different military aircraft. You'll also get a glimpse into the future of the U.S. military with a video of the DARPA Robotics Challenge.

Finally, we have two great military stories to share. One military video shares the stories of military working dogs and the other of a Marine awarded the Bronze Star.

So, if you are ready, here are our weekly military videos for our Heroes in Action blog post.

Cockpit Video of Vanguard Squadron RV-3 Aerobatics

Our first video is not necessarily a military video but did take place at a military base and features some former military pilots. This cockpit video comes from a Vanguard Squadron Van's Aircraft RV-3 performing aerobatics during the Wings Over Whiteman Air Show 2015 at Whiteman Air Force Base. In case you haven't heard of the Vanguard Squadron, it is a US based ethanol powered aerobatic team that flies 6-10 airshow events each year and currently has five Van's RV-3 aircraft.

UH-1Y Venom Cockpit Video

Last week, we shared a Marine video of a Bell UH-1Y Venom helicopter in action. This week, we have a cockpit video of U.S. Marine Corps pilots flying a UH1-Y Super Huey during a Utility Basics Exercise in Yuma, Arizona.

DARPA Robotics Challenge

Could we be looking at the prototype of a future robot soldier? Here is video from the finals of the 2015 DARPA Robotics Challenge held in early June in Pomona, California.

K9's Make the Best Teammates

In this military video, Cpl. Cameron Chapman, a military working dog handler, talks about the relationships formed between his fellow handlers and their dogs and the role of Provost Marshal's Office K9 units on military bases.

1st Lt. James Salka Awarded Bronze Star for Actions in Afghanistan

Our last Heroes in Action videos is appropriately a military video about a true military hero. This videos shares the story of 1st Lt. James Salka who was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune June 8. Salka, the executive officer of Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, was awarded for his service in Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment.
