VIDEO: Vietnam Vet Reacts Angrily at Westboro Church Protester Stepping on the American Flag

Vietnam veteran Richard Pierce knew that the Westboro Baptist Church had showed up to picket and disrespect an Iraq War veteran's funeral. He didn't, however, expect to see the flag he fought for to be stepped on and desecrated by those protesters.

The 64-year-old former Marine was one of 300 counter-protesters at the funeral of Iraq War veteran Beau Biden. He did this even though he’s a Republican who had never voted for Biden as he wanted to make sure nothing happened during the procession to disrupt a fellow American veteran's funeral.

News outlets reported that when the Vietnam veteran saw a Westboro Baptist Church protester stomping on an American flag, Pierce couldn't keep himself from reacting in anger.

“It was not my intention to cause a problem,” Pierce said. “However, when I saw the young lady walking across the highway, dragging our flag under her feet, I lost my temper and the only way that I could demonstrate that is spill my coffee on them.”

Pierce threw his Dunkin’ Donuts coffee on two of the members of the church, one of whom had been trampling on the flag.

“So many people have died in defense of that flag,” Pierce said. “I don’t care who you are, you are not going to disrespect the flag. And if I have to go to jail to defend that flag, I’m going to do it. I take that very strongly.”

ALL RANCHES of the military are offended by these actions. It used to be a crime to desecrate the flag and still should be. I’m a Korean War Vet and don’t know what I would do in his place but believe I would do the same. Semper Fi Marine, from a Navy Buddy.

Way to go Marine. Now for the officers that arrested him, there is still a law against desicrating our flag. She should have also been arrested. And she can be fined up to $1000 (I think) and up to one year in jail.

Thank you for stepping up in defense of our flag. I myself a Veteran would’ve reacted the same way. The young lady who desecrated our flag should’ve been arrested. It’s a felony dor anyone to desecrate our American Flag. I thank you sir for being an American. Thank you for your service.

When it’s time for our flag to be destroyed honorably, it is supposed to be burned …. If it happens to be attached to her legs, so be it!
