F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes in Arizona; Pilot's Fate Unknown

Breaking Air Force news: Officials say an F-16 fighter jet from Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix has crashed in northwestern Arizona. The F-16 was assigned to the 56th Fighter Wing.

The Air Force says the condition of the pilot of the F-16 fighter that crashed Thursday in a military operations area near Bagdad, Arizona is not known.

Luke Air Force Base officials say the jet went down Thursday morning in rugged terrain in a remote location near Bagdad in Yavapai County and that authorities are conducting a search and rescue operation.

State and county agencies have sent personnel and aircraft to the area to assist the Air Force.

Luke spokeswoman 1st Lt. Tanya Wren said the cause of the crash isn't known and no other information was immediately available.

I pray for people they gave their life for freedom. They did what they are made for, but they also need to be healed by the most of us. I am a french soldier retired after 35 years in the air force. God bless you all. I salute you.
