Video: Navy Veteran and Wife Warn Others to Steer Clear of Veterans Choice Program
February 01, 2016
A Navy veteran whose hip replacement, provided by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, just "fell apart" found himself in a long, drawn-out battle to get the care he needed and deserved.
Lucky for this Navy veteran, he had his wife standing by his side and willing to fight for his health care.
Jim Moreno manned a .50 caliber machine gun on a U.S. Navy assault boat during the Vietnam War. Later in life, the military veteran required a hip replacement which he received from the VA.
According to Moreno's wife Jill, a week after hip replacement surgery, his surgically-repaired hip "just broke." “He wasn’t jumping, running, doing anything. It just fell apart. He fell to the ground,” Jill explained.
And after two more failed surgeries to correct the problem, the VA Determined spinal stenosis was causing the pain and referred Jim to the Veterans Choice program for outside treatment.
That's when the problems started.
Below is the investigative report featuring the Moreno's on WFLA News Channel 8. Thanks to Healing Heroes Network for bringing this story to our attanetion.
