Daniel Somers' family shares a veteran's suicide note to help shine a brighter light on the issues plaguing the VA which are harming our military veterans.
Somers was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was part of Task Force Lightning, an intelligence unit, and he ran more than 400 combat missions as a machine gunner in the turret of a Humvee.
He suffered greatly from PTSD and had been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and several other war-related conditions.
In the interview below, his parents share part of his suicide note as they hope to bring more attention to veteran suicides and the ongoing issues at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
This story is a follow-up to a story shared earlier this week discussing a new VA investigation which uncovered that veterans' calls to a VA suicide hotline were being sent to voicemail. And to make matters worse, the VA never bothered to return the majority of those calls from veterans in need of help. Read it here.
