Suspect Breaks Into Veteran, Pregnant Wife's East Dallas Home

Mouk Chounlamany and his pregnant wife are still extremely shaken up after a man broke into their home Sunday night. Chounlamany is an air force veteran who served in Iraq. The expecting couple were peacefully sleeping in their East Dallas home when the break in took place.

Chounlamany and his wife Ketmany Rasasack had only purchased their home a month ago when they learned that they were expecting their first child.

A hidden doorbell camera captured the ominous scene of the suspect scoping out the home. He can then be seen going to the back of the house. It was then that the suspect jumped the fence and then broke a window to enter the home.

The snoozing couple quickly sprang awake after hearing a strange noise. Chounlamany ran and grabbed the first weapon he could find which was a hammer.

"My conscience told me, 'Hey, wake up. Go!’” recalled Chounlamany. "I don't care if he stole something. It's just the fear of my family's safety."

As Chounlamany ran towards the source of the noise, both Chounlamany and his wife received an alert on their phones that the front door had been opened.

The camera then captured the suspect fleeing the scene. The thief got away with the veteran's wallet and the wife's purse. He made off with the veteran's military ID, the couple's credit cards, as well as hundreds of dollars in gift cards and cash from their recent baby shower.

After coming home from the war, Chounlamany refused to own a gun. However after this recent break in, the first thing he did was go out and purchase a firearm. He also bought more surveillance cameras.

"We're going to be prepared. That's all that we can do,” said Chounlamany. “And we're going to try to deter anything that's going to happen."
